University · quantitative support
Statistics, econometrics and research methods for students who can produce the output and cannot yet justify the choice behind it. The reasoning under SPSS, Stata and R, rather than the button-pressing.
01 / What I can support
01
Descriptive and inferential statistics, probability, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing.
02
From a single specification to why that specification and not another one.
03
Research questions, variables, measurement and choosing a method you can actually defend.
04
SPSS, Stata and R concepts where relevant, interpreting output, communicating results, exam preparation, and structuring research assignments within academic-integrity boundaries.
02 / How the work goes
A student can memorise the formula for a t-test and still stall on a scenario question. So you and I slow down before any calculation: what is the research question, what are the variables, how are they measured, are the groups separate or related, which assumptions actually matter. The method becomes the consequence of reasoning rather than a guess based on familiar symbols.
Software produces a table in seconds. You still have to know what was estimated, whether the method fits the question, how to describe uncertainty honestly, and what the result does not show. Sessions connect the output to an interpretation you can write down and defend.
03 / Academic integrity
Current assignments can be used as learning material. I do not produce work for submission, fabricate analysis or work around course rules. The objective is that you understand it, can explain it, and can defend it when someone asks.
Note to self
the students who ask whether I will “just do the analysis” are usually the ones who most need to learn to do it. Say no, then offer the thing they actually needed.
Free resources
01
Before you choose the formula: identify the question, define what you actually have, select the method, show the reasoning, and check whether the answer is even plausible. Written for mathematics and statistics students.
02
A short guide to entering a piece of work, finding the real task, choosing a first action, and noticing exactly where the process breaks down.
Both are free, both arrive by email, and asking for one is not an application.
Next step
University students apply for themselves. Describe the course, the deadline and where the reasoning is breaking down, and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person.
